Eight Day Wildlife and Gorilla Safari

Join us for this eight day safari to see Africa's wildlife, including a gorilla trekking experience!

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Travel to Kibale National Park

    On your arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be picked up by our representative, your driver and guide who will brief you through your safari program and then proceed on to Kibale National Park. You will drive through traditional homesteads of Mityana, Mubende and the tea plantations of Kabarole, with en-route lunch. You will arrive at Kibale in the afternoon and check in to the Kibale Forest Camp for dinner and your overnight stay.

  • Day 2: Kibale National Park and Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary

    After breakfast, you drive to the park offices for registration and briefing before you start the chimpanzee trekking. The trekking normally takes about 3 hours in Kibale Forest, one of East Africa’s oldest forests. This forest protects a community of more than one thousand chimpanzees, in addition other primate species and a variety of bird species. We come back to the lodge for lunch and later in the afternoon go for a nature walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. After the walk, we return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

  • Day 3: Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park

    After breakfast, we drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, driving through the crater lakes region of Kabarole and doing a mini game drive as we enter the park. We will check into Park View Safari Lodge and have lunch. Later in the afternoon, we go for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel to view the wildlife from close quarters as they cool off along the shores of the channel that connects Lakes George and Edward. Come back to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

  • Day 4: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

    The day begins early as we start the game drive in the Kasenyi plains in search of wildlife which includes buffaloes, kobs, warthogs, elephants, waterbucks, lions, hyenas, and on lucky days, leopards. After the game drive, we go back to the lodge for breakfast, check out and drive to Bwindi through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, where tree-climbing lions can be seen. We have lunch en-route and later check in to Buhoma Community Rest Camp or Ruhija Gorilla Mist Camp for dinner and overnight.

  • Day 5: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Gorilla Trekking

    After breakfast, we walk down to the visitors’ center for registration and briefing before the gorilla trekking. The exercise may be strenuous walking up steep hills under sometimes muddy conditions. While the hike is intense, the opportunity to see gorillas is well worth it. This activity may take about 2 – 8 hours, depending on how easily the gorillas can be found. After locating the gorillas, your guide will advise you on how to behave while you spend your time with them. Later we come back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

  • Day 6: Travel to Lake Bunyonyi

    After a relaxed breakfast, we check out and drive to Lake Bunyonyi, arriving in the afternoon to Bunyonyi Overland Camp. We have our lunch and relax a bit and later in the afternoon go for a boat cruise along the lake. In this boat ride we can visit some of the lakes’ islands where we can see a lot of water birds and some traditional dancers. We later come back to the camp for dinner and over night.

  • Day 7: Travel to Lake Mburo

    After breakfast, we check out and drive to Lake Mburo National Park, passing through the rolling hills of Kabale and Mbarara with lunch en-route, arriving in the afternoon to the Eagles’ Nest. Then later in the afternoon, we go for aboat cruise on Lake Mburo; this can take about one and half hours. We later come back to the camp for dinner and over night.

  • Day 8: Lake Mburo National Park – Kampala

    The day begins early as we go for the morning nature walk in search of wildlife that includes buffaloes, zebras, warthogs, impalas, eland (Africa’s biggest antelope), topis, bushbucks, reedbucks, waterbucks, oribis, bush pigs and leopards among others. This normally takes about two hours according to your interests. This is one of the best walks we have in Uganda. We come back to the lodge for breakfast and afterwards travel back to Kampala with lunch en-route arriving later in the afternoon. We check into our place of accommodation for dinner and overnight or, depending on your flight, we go straight to the airport.
